The book tells the story of 18-year-old Eric Blum, a student at Noah Webster Preparatory, who suffers from dyslexia and an emotional breakdown following the death of his brother in Vietnam. The story tells how Eric struggles to prove to the school that he is qualified to graduate and take the SAT exam for college. The plot becomes interesting when Eric falls in love with his history teacher, Carole Schor.

Author bio

Bruce Beryl Fisher was born in Philadelphia. He wrote the novel based on his experience in the Philadelphia school system in the 1960s and 1970s.

Bruce worked as a studio stage manager for Whitney Houston, Cyndi Lauper and the Bee Gees. He was also a set decorator for the film The Perez Family with Marisa Tomei and Anjelica Huston. Bruce currently works as a stagehand with the International Alliance of Theater Stage Employees in Miami, Florida. He resides in Hollywood, Florida.
