Following the launch of the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight pre-patch earlier this week, players have gone crazy with their Dracthyr design.
The second of two World of Warcraft: Dragonflight pre-patches was released on November 15th and with it brought a new race, the Dracthyr. These anthropomorphic dragons can be customized in-game, and players have gone above and beyond with their own character creations that set off an unofficial Dracthyr fashion show.
As highlighted in the World of Warcraft subreddit (opens in a new tab), so many players have dived right into creating their Dracthyr counterparts. In fact, there have been so many shares on the subreddit in the last few days that mods have created a dedicated megathread where everyone can share their creations – and it’s essentially a Dracthyr walkway… or is it supposed to be the dragon walk? In fact, it has become such a craze within the WoW community that it has even spawned its own niche memes:
Just as you’d expect, many World of Warcraft players took full advantage of this Reddit thread and shared photos of their new characters. There has also been a lot of positive feedback for many of the creations, with a person (opens in a new tab) complimenting another’s design choices by saying their Dracthyr is giving “grown-up Spyro vibes” – and with its purple and yellow coloring, we can certainly see that.
There’s certainly a lot of freedom that comes with creating Dracthyr, with over 40 individual customization options available, it’s easy enough to get the exact look you’re after. Some players have followed the new character path, while others have tried recreating their regular characters in dragon form, as shown below.

The World of Warcraft: Dragonflight expansion is expected to release in full on November 28, 2022 and with it comes a number of new features for the MMORPG. Described as “the third era of Warcraft”, Dragonflight will soon introduce a new area called The Dragon Isles and a new class called Evoker. Along with this, the new expansion will also increase the level cap to 70 and revamp the UI and talent tree systems, as well as much, much more.
