Here’s the latest Big 12 Conference sports news from The Associated Press | Sports

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) – Guard Jose Perez has enrolled at West Virginia for the spring semester. Perez left Manhattan after head coach Steve Masiello was fired. West Virginia coach Bob Huggins says Perez’s eligibility status for games and practices will be determined at a later date. The fifth-year senior was named the preseason player of the year in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. He averaged nearly 19 points and more than four assists and three rebounds per game a year ago. West Virginia will be his fourth school. Perez spent two seasons at Gardner-Webb and one at Marquette and one at Manhattan.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) – Iowa and Iowa State will continue their annual football clashes through at least 2027. The schools announced a two-year extension to the CyHawk Series contract. Iowa and Iowa State have played every year since they resumed the series in 1977. That rules out the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. The teams first met in 1894, and Iowa holds a 46-23 series lead. Iowa State won 10-7 at Iowa City in September.

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Keyontae Johnson scored 19 points, Cam Carter added 16, as Kansas State defeated Kansas City 69-53. Desi Sills scored 10 of his 11 points in the final 6 1/2 minutes to help the Wildcats blunt a Roos rally. Shemarri Allen scored 21 points, including 16 in the second half as the Roos cut a 20-point deficit to 10, the final half with four minutes left. Anderson Kopp added 13 points. A blistering dunk by Johnson gave K-State a lead by 20 going into the second half. But 3-of-17 shooting by the Wildcats helped Kansas City comeback. The Roos were unable to get the single-digit margin with Sills running four layups.

UNDATED (AP) — Six teams remain alive for second place in the Big 12 championship game with two weeks to go and more are still trying to become bowl eligible. It is likely that many of these endgames will be close. The average winning margin in Big 12 games is 13.5 points. This is the lowest of the Power Five conferences. In 27 of 35 Big 12 games the margin at one point in the fourth quarter was eight points or fewer. Fifteen of those 27 games have finished decided by a score.

UNDATED (AP) — Fourth-place and undefeated TCU is already in the Big 12 championship game. The 10-0 Horned Frogs need to keep winning if they are to be in the four-team College Football playoffs. They play against defending champion Baylor on Saturday, who needs to win and get a lot of help to get back into the title game. No. 19 Kansas State can join TCU in the Big 12 title game with a win at West Virginia, combined with a Texas loss at Kansas. The Big 12 may still have all 10 of its bowl-eligible teams.

WACO, Texas (AP) – TCU coach Sonny Dykes doesn’t have to come up with new ways every week to motivate his team. The fourth-place finisher has already clinched a spot in the Big 12 title game and must continue to win to reach the four-team College Football playoffs. TCU is 10-0 and playing Baylor on Saturday. Baylor is coming off a 31-3 home loss to #19 Kansas State. The 6-4 Bears need to win their last two games and get a lot of help just to get back to the championship title game. They were Big 12 champions last year, even with a loss to TCU.

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Bedlam won’t be quite the high-stakes showdown many expected at the start of the season. Many will still be in the game when #24 Oklahoma State visits Oklahoma. Both began the season with College Football playoff aspirations and top 12 rankings. Both slid out after their quarterbacks were knocked out. Oklahoma State could still reach the conference title game with help. Oklahoma can become bowl eligible with a win. It will be one of the last meetings between the rivals before Oklahoma leaves for the Southeastern Conference.
