I’m a celebrity… get me out of here! has been a beloved staple of television since it launched in 2003, but sadly we have lost many of the beloved stars of the hit ITV show over the years.

Bobby Palla

Bobby appeared on the show in 2005 alongside the likes of Carol Thatcher and Sid Owen. The comic, best known for being part of the duo Cannon and Ball, passed away of complications from COVID-19 in October 2020.

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson

Tara appeared in the first ever series of I’m a Celebrity and narrowly missed out on being crowned Queen of the Jungle after finishing second to Tony Blackburn. The reality show star very sadly passed away in January 2016 at the age of 45, with her death being treated as inexplicable. His sister later revealed that his cause of death was peritonitis and a perforated ulcer.

Paying tribute, Blue band member Duncan James wrote, “Heartbroken and numb I lost one of my oldest and dearest friends. I will miss your shmooey laughter. Rip darling.”

David Gest

David was very popular on the show in 2006, finishing fourth in the competition and captivating viewers with his hilarious anecdotes. The star very sadly passed away at the age of 62 in 2016 after suffering a stroke while she was staying in a hotel in London.

At the time, her I’m a Celebrity co-star Dean Gaffney tweeted: “I’ve never lost a best friend before and this pain hurts more than anything I’ve ever felt. RIP David Gest, I love you brother.”

Eric Bristo

The world champion darts player finished in fourth place in the 2012 jungle show series, and told Ant and Dec at the time: “I had a lot of fun, but I wish I could have done the last three. I would have loved to try maggots for my kids.”

The star sadly passed away of a heart attack in 2019 while visiting a Premier League darts event in Liverpool. At the time, fellow darts player Bobby George said: “In the afternoon, I was doing a show in a pub opposite the Premier League (darts) building, and he just walked in, said ‘Hi’ and had a pint, then he said ‘See you’, I said ‘See you’ because I was working…he crossed the road and two and a half hours later he was gone.”

Freddie Star

Stand-up comedian Freddie took part in the show in 2011, but was forced to leave due to ill health after suffering an allergic reaction. At the time, he said, “I was sad to hear the news of what the doctors said—that I was allergic to something, to be on the safe side and it’s better for me not to go back.” The star died in 2019 at her Costa Del Sol home due to heart disease.
