Potential TV adaptation of Warm Bodies teased by author

Isaac Marion, the author of Warm Bodies, teases a potential TV adaptation of his series of zombie romance novels.

A potential television adaptation of Warm bodies it was made fun of by the author of the books. A zombie love story, Warm bodies was written by author Isaac Marion in 2010, with a prequel novel and two sequel books released later. In 2013, the original novel was adapted into a feature film starring Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer. The film received fairly positive reviews, with many praising it Warm bodies for showing a different side of the zombie genre.

In an interview with SyfyMarion teases a potential TV adaptation of Warm bodies which would encompass his entire series of books. Marion says that, initially, there were talks of making a sequel to the film, but that the “sequel to the film made into a TV series.” While a television adaptation of Warm bodies it was announced to be in development several years ago, there have been no updates since. Read Marion’s comments below:

VIDEO SCREENRANT OF THE DAY

“There was a time when it seemed like a sure thing, contracts were being made etc, but for some reason it keeps slipping. Talk of a movie sequel turned into a TV series, which was actually announced as ‘in development’ a couple of years ago, only to mysteriously shut up. I’m only marginally involved at this point, so I don’t really know what’s going on behind the scenes. It’s all a big joke to me. But they picked all four books for TV, so it’s still possible. For me, Warm Bodies is just the opening act of the story — it’s actually 18 percent of the total word count — so it would be a dream to see the rest on screen one day.”

How could it be a TV show about hot bodies

In May 2019 it was announced that a Warm bodies the television series was in development, as part of Lionsgate’s deal with the film’s director, Jonathan Levine. While little else was announced at the time, it was thought that the series would premiere exclusively on a streaming service, rather than cable. Since the announcement, however, there have been no further updates on the series. Marion says the project is gone”mysteriously silent,” and that while he’s still involved in the project, he doesn’t have any major skills. However, with Marion still wanting to see the series go into production, there may still be hope for a Warm bodies television adaptation after all.

While the Warm bodies The film was fairly well received and a box office hit, covering only the events of one book in Marion’s four-book series. As Marion mentions above, this is only a small part of the series, so there’s a lot more that could be covered in a TV adaptation, even if it can’t bring back Hoult and Palmer. The prequel novel of Warm bodiestitled The new hunger, follows protagonist (and eventual zombie love interest) Julie as her family tries to survive in a barely apocalyptic America. The two sequel novels, The world on fire And The living, follow Julie and R as they learn more about R’s past and as R “recovers” from his death. The sequel novels have been hailed as much more substantial and serious than Warm bodiesand would make for a very interesting series.

Even though there hasn’t been any movement on the Warm bodies TV series adaptation was announced just a year before the pandemic hit, and unsurprisingly, the show was shelved while Lionsgate grappled with other projects. However, with Marion still confirming that he is interested in the ongoing series and reminiscing Warm bodies fans on the project’s existence, this could be the push the series needs to restart development. For now, however, it appears that the Warm bodies the TV adaptation is stuck in a slow zombie-like development hell.
