The showrunners also promised that Season 2 would pick up after the cliffhanger where Season 1 left off, which saw the main characters together in the same ship, though paths have diverged. “The wonderful thing about season two is that we get to continue the story of these characters that we left in precarious positions at the end of season one,” Heisserer noted.

Although Wylan, a new character taken directly from Six of crows, feature prominently in Season 2, Heisserer clarified that they had a “greater ambition” for the main storyline than Six of crows. “We’re not actually using the texture of Six of crows in season 2.” He said. “This is a robust, robust story that demands its own lane.”

Season 1 of Shadow and bones is available to stream on Netflix. The second season will debut worldwide on March 16, 2023.
