The 3rd International Thailand Silk Fashion Week in honor of HM Queen Sirikit in Bangkok

The 3rd International Thai Silk Fashion Week project will be held from 7 to 11 December 2022 starting at 16.00 at Royal Paragon Hall, 5th floor of Siam Paragon.

The Office of the Permanent Secretary, the Office of the Prime Minister in cooperation with the Association for Thai Culture and Promotions, organizer of the 3rd International Thai Silk Fashion Week in honor of HM Queen Sirikit, 90th anniversary of the birth of the Queen Mother 12 August 2022, an official celebration in the name of the Royal Thai Government.

The project will be held from 7 to 11 December 2022 starting at 16.00 at the Royal Paragon Hall, 5th floor of Siam Paragon.

For the past 3 years, due to travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project was put on hold as international stylists could not travel to Thailand. With the ease of travel for international tourists in one year, more than international fashion designers from more than 60 countries are once again invited to attend the 3rd International Thai Silk Fashion Week to make a collection of traditional and contemporary clothing using fabrics of Thai silk in its entirety. The Thai collection will be represented by the top finalists of the 4th Next Big Silk Designer Contests from Thai fashion design students who participated in the contest nationwide.

This year marks another world-class event with the participation of world-renowned fashion designer Mr. Jimmy Choo, who will be on the judging panel of the 1st Thailand International Silk Design Competition and present the awards. The best stylist of the Italian fashion house, Mr. Rocco Barocco, will also make a collection in Thai Silk for the first time, as well as many other famous designers mostly selected by their embassies to represent their country.

There will be 5 shows per day in both full shows and combo shows. The full show designers will showcase 12 pieces of Thai silk dresses plus 12 other pieces from their latest collections, while the combined show designers will showcase 6 Thai silk dresses alongside designers from the same region.

This is a wonderful opportunity to promote cross-cultural exchange and enhance multilateral relations with various countries through Thai silk, an important contribution from HM Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. At the same time, the project encourages the young Thai generation to treasure Thai tradition, culture and heritage.

The 1st International Thai Silk Design Competition will be held during the project for international fashion designers to showcase their creativity in contemporary Thai silk clothing. The results and the awards ceremony will be announced on Sunday 11 December 2022 during the closing ceremony. Thai silk fabrics have once again proved popular and usable for all cultures, nationalities and styles of clothing.

At the event venue, fine silk sellers from over 70 provinces in Thailand will exhibit and exhibit the silk products for sale through supporting ministries exhibitions Activities such as seminars for Thai fashion design students and fashion textile operators will be held from 9:30 to noon From 7 to 11 December 2022, meetings between fashion designers and international companies will also be organised.

This is a must-do project for fashionistas and also for people from all walks of life to appreciate Thailand’s unique fabrics, culture and tradition. (NNT)
