Anstead is an entertaining limerick anthology based on the author’s many experiences around the world . Born and raised in Covington, Kentucky, Anstead grew up with an appreciation and passion for poetry encouraged by his mother. He graduated from high school at Kentucky Latin High School and later graduated from Northern Kentucky University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in education. He began teaching in 1977 and has been in the educational setting for over four decades. He now teaches at Kentucky Independent schools where he coaches basketball. He also works at local summer camps. He wrote an article in his local newspaper about backyard basketball, showing his passion for the sport. Anstead also appeared on a television program where he was interviewed about his book about him, and was able to read excerpts to the audience.

One of the many limericks in the novel reads: “An impulsive young man from Berlin / He developed a great passion for gin. / So while drunk he robbed a bank / And he spent the next five years in the tank, / For such is the wages of sin. In this passage, Anstead’s unique combination of his love of travel and his ability to create poetry is evident.
